Sept 3-6 – Ice Skating Up Hill

Well, the camping trip was amazing this past Labor Day weekend, but on Saturday evening, somewhere between the Warsteiner beers and the toasted smores, I caved in. Haha.. oh well. I can honestly say that if we packed only what I wanted, this could’ve been avoided, but life’s never like that. My plans need to incorporate theirs too. Plus, I realized that Mark Sisson’s 30 Primal Challenge was starting the day after Labor Day (knew something about long weekend BBQ’s that I didn’t), so I’m slightly shifting my 30-Day Paleo Challenge to Sept 7th till Oct 6th. And I’m okay with that.

In fact, while I didn’t keep to my exact plan, I feel it was a fun and successful camping trip! I got out to the great outdoors, got plenty on sun, tromped through rivers, made my own fires and even went hiking in my VFF’s for the first time (a little sore after Saturday’s first hike, but really much better than I thought). I ate plenty of eggs, bacon, some sausage, green tea and dried blueberries. But it was a rare get together with friends, so I decided to put fun first. One day the world may decide that healthy, unprocessed foods are fun! Still way too many pluses to call this weekend a failure. And now I feel more prepared for these events. I’m looking forward to planning another trip within a month with Steph,  but with just Paleo on my menu.

About Primal Pig

“Let food be your medicine, and medicine be your food.” -Hippocrates I'm 28 years old, living in Boston. I studied international business and culinary arts. I try to incorporate my experience abroad, nutritional research and ancient culinary traditions in my life. I'm not trying to change the world, but I'm taking charge of how I make my way through. Interested in paleo / primal living, or just tired of convention wisdom? Go ahead and question away.. many people don't have enough questions! Too many "whatever you say" answers, accepting "experts" regurgitated "knowledge". If you're curious about other nutritional / lifestyle options, let me know. If I don't know exactly what you need, I can at least point you in the right direction.
